USD Dance Marathon

We just had an incredible weekend in Vermillion, SD at the University of South Dakota's Dance Marathon.

Over 150 students participated to raise over $37,000 for CMN!!

Olivia and Meredith had a great time meeting other kids, dancing with the students and getting lots of attention. We heard some amazing storied from other parents.

It's absolutely unreal what families can get through and how many lives CMN touches.

Thank you to the Exec team, Morale team and dancers at the USD Dance Marathon! We are so very impressed!

Washington, D.C.

We are so very excited to be a part of the Children's Miracle Network Champions program! This incredible organization has played a huge part in our life and we are so happy to have a chance to tell people about it!

Recently we received a preliminary itinerary for the Champions program in Washington, D.C. We'll be leaving on June 6th from Sioux Falls and will have a chance to meet other Champion families from around the country. I'm really looking forward to hearing other's stories and sharing our own.

It looks like there are several media events planned for the trip, which will be a wonderful opportunity to inform others of the importance of Children's Miracle Network.

Children's Miracle Network has touched our lives in many ways, but most importantly, they helped to save our tiny baby Olivia's life just after she was born. The equipment they provided to Sanford Children's hospital was vital to her recovery from a very tough start in life.

Olivia's strength combined with the hand of God and assistance of CMN pulled our whole family through a very trying time. We are forever grateful to CMN and the staff that took care of our little lady at Sanford Children's.

We'll keep you posted on what we hear about our trip and other events we'll be attending to help promoted CMN.

Off to the USD Dance Marathon this weekend!

Olivia and Meredith's Story

Olivia and Meredith
Ages 4 and 3
Pulmonary Hypertension

Sanford Children’s Hospital

Anne and Greg have both been involved in fundraising for Children’s Miracle Network; little did they know the charity they had casually encountered would become the charity that changed their lives.

When their first child, Olivia, was born, she appeared healthy. That swiftly changed when she began having trouble breathing and was transferred to Sanford Children’s Hospital. Olivia’s breathing was serious enough that she was immediately placed on a ventilator, purchased by Children’s Miracle Network. Olivia was diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension, a life-threatening illness. A Children’s Miracle Network-funded assistance program helped the family with meals, mileage and lodging while they stood by their daughter’s side hoping for a miracle. Today, Olivia is perfectly healthy.

Olivia, 4, has since become the big sister to Meredith, 3, who also faced breathing difficulties at birth. She too was transported to Sanford Children’s Hospital and was hospitalized for seven days.

Several years later, you’d never know that Olivia and Meredith had ever been anything but perfectly happy and healthy. These spunky, blue-eyed beauties are the light of their parent’s life and proof that miracles do happen.

Champions presented by Walmart and Sam’s Club

Champions presented by Walmart and Sam’s Club is a Children's Miracle Network program that brings attention to the important work being done at children’s hospitals by honoring remarkable children who have faced severe medical challenges.

The Champions program designates a champion child in every state who has bravely battled a serious injury or illness. The champions represent the nearly 17 million children treated at Children’s Miracle Network hospitals every year. The 2010 champions have dealt with a wide variety of injuries and illnesses including genetic diseases, heart transplants and traumas, as well as life-threatening staph infections.

As part of Champions presented by Walmart and Sam’s Club, the champions travel for a week in June to Washington, D.C., where champions traditionally meet with their state senators on Capitol Hill, and the President of the United States during a visit to the White House. The family then travels to Orlando, Fla., for a second week in November. There, champions meet Children’s Miracle Network sponsor, hospital and media partners who all convene to celebrate a year of medical miracles during the Children’s Miracle Network Celebration event at Walt Disney World Resort.
